After 24+ hours of travel, including a 10-hour layover (supposed to be 8) in Amsterdam and a car rental company whose shuttle didn’t show up, we got to our place in Inverness. Lemme tell you that if you want to get one of those by-the-hour places (not *that* kind) to nap at Shiopol for €150, you need to reserve it ahead of time. Also let me say that it’s just better to reserve a car with a company that is in the tiny airport rather than not. Two lessons learned.

ReplyDeleteWas it not possible to leave the Amsterdam airport and explore a little? I know that's not as easy to do these days as it used to be.
ReplyDeleteWell, we thought about it. But we read that getting out via immigration and getting back in via security would take several hours and that the original 8-hour layover might not be enough time to do that and to get into the city.
