Amsterdam had an 10-hour layover. We took turns trying to nap, but mostly sat around in a kind of stupor.
Some pics of Vicki caught napping:
Saw this in the airport. Made me think of Gene Wilder and Peter Boyle doing Putting on the Ritz in the movie Young Frankenstein.
Finally, you think we might be in the Netherlands?
Kudos to KLM for a decent flight to Inverness. Nicer plane, nicer staff, better food.
Landing at Inverness was a pleasant business. It is a small airport, and you still disembark onto the tarmac and walk into the building. Immigration folks were wonderfully pleasant, and we breezed on through.
Speaking of breezes, there was a bit more than that when we walked out. We had to grab jackets.
Getting our rental car was a bit tougher, as the shuttle never found us. So we taxied the short distance with a kind driver, and got our rental. We didn’t ask for something “posh,” but that is what we got. Vicki (and Cody) will be driving a Mercedes SUV. I will not be driving - my instincts rule, and I could not stay on the left side of the road.
We are spending the first four nights here in a rented cottage on the outskirts of Inverness, close to Culloden.
