Since the day was going to be crowded, I got up at sunrise and went out to take a few pics.
This is the Scott Memorial, as in Sir Walter Scott, and it is the largest monument in the world dedicated to a writer.
This fence at the top of the “new stairs” was covered with locks.

When the sculpteurs of long ago created their masterpieces, do you think they had any idea of the lengths modern society would go to keep the birds off?
After this photo shoot, I met Cody for a full Scottish breakfast: “bacon,” sausage, and black pudding, baked beans, a piece of toast, a half tomato (broiled), one egg over medium, and some sautéed mushrooms.
After breakfast, we headed back, welcomed Autumn back, and went to a wonderful lunch nearby. Following lunch, we loaded up on a Hop On, Hop off bus, and we headed out to hike to Arthur’s seat. Considering I had a shot in my back last week, I thought I did well to make it a third of the away. The other three went all the way.
So while I was waiting on them, I visited a cemetery and found David Hume and Abraham Lincoln:
