We have seen some beautiful sights in the past two days. Dan and I are reminded very much of home, although the tree line is a lot lower here than in WNC. On Monday, Cody drove from Edinburgh to Fort William. These photos are on the drive from Edinburgh:
At Fort William, we caught the Jacobite Express - a pricey tourist thing for sure but enjoyable as it was a steam train that goes across the viaduct in the famous shot in the trip to Hogwarts. We also passed the isle where Dumbledore was buried. This photo was taken on the way back:
Today (Tuesday), we drove to the Isle of Skye. Here is a lot of what we saw:
The drive up had more gorgeous vistas, and I drove so that Cody could sightsee. We stopped at Invergarry Castle, which was creepy and cool, as well as castle on Eilean Dornan, which is a definite tourist trap. In addition to paying for parking, you can pay for crossing the bridge (£3) and admission to the castle (£11), which is a ruin. Nothing to see here, folks. Take photos at one of the pull-outs before you get there and keep driving.
Then it was on to the Fairy Pools, which meant driving down a one-lane road. Mostly, people were thoughtful and used the passing pull-outs, but sometimes there were dipshits that I guess thought that they would play chicken. Here’s the thing: there is literally nowhere to go to make room for said dipshit. So we are facing opposite ways on a road that has room for one vehicle.
People can be so stupid.
Dan will post lovely photos, and we may steal some from the kids. :)
