After our wonderful lunch, we headed to Elgin, a town that Rick Steves doesn’t even mention in his tour books. The main reason we went was to see the ruins of Elgin Cathedral, and it was/is worth a visit. The cathedral was established in 1224. The grounds include the ruins, the tombs of knights and bishops, and a beautiful graveyard.

Masons were creative in their work, using animals, people, and imaginary beings to entertain, warn, or instruct those in the cathedral.
Views from the top were pretty nice.
Following the cathedral, we chose to visit a place for its name: Duffus Castle. We had to say we had been there. It was out in the fields around Elgin.
Thus ends part deux. More tomorrow!
